LOWDEN - It’s been quite a few years since Wyoming’s Little Bear Country Club has competed for a Three-Rivers tournament team championship.
The last time was, well?
“Honestly, I don’t remember, and I’ve been golfing in this tournament and quite a few years,” said Little Bear’s Doug Dammann, who helped the Wyoming to a solid 958 score that placed third overall at the one-day, 18-hole event on the 3/30 course in Lowden Saturday, Aug. 18.
“All I know is that this third-place finish is as good as I have ever seen Little Bear finish, so we’re all pretty proud of that.”
Not only did the team from Wyoming team have a big day, but the club also boasted an individual Three-Rivers champion when Little Bear’s Caleb Davison topped Fawn Creek’s Mike Carrier in a one-hole playoff after each golfer made their way through the course with identical cards of 72, tops of all golfers on the day.
Davison opened with a 37 before coming back on his second nine holes with a 35 to tie Carrier, who had a two-shot lead after opening nine-holes of play.
Little Bear’s Geoff Dammann had a big day as well finishing in a tie for third overall while also claiming club medalist honors for the tournament carding a 73 (36-37).
Also competing and scoring for the Little Bear team were: Cole Ackley (74), Riley Williams (77), Steve Dirks (80), Derek Snead (80), Nick Vacek (81), Doug Dammann (81), Dave Fall Jr. (81), Brian Fagan (86), Dave Buchholtz (86), Justin Bomia (87), Kris Leeper (89) and Kirk Park (89).
