Off to a sensational start to the 2013-14 season, former Anamosa standout Lauren Buck earned recognition being named Athlete of the Week for the Upper Iowa women’s basketball team.

Buck, a Peacock junior, recorded her first-ever double-double Saturday, Nov. 30, scoring 14 points while pulling down 11 rebounds in helping Upper Iowa to a 66-58 triumph over Winona State.

Buck added a pair of assists in the triumph and for the season is averaging a double-double scoring 10.6 points per game while adding 10.0 rebounds a contest.

Upper Iowa is 2-3 so far this season as Buck has started all five games averaging 27 minutes on the floor and shooting 50-percent from the field and 83-percent from the free throw line

The Athlete of the Week award is the first for Buck, the daughter of Mike and Connie Buck of Anamosa.
