As the only prognosticator to pick nine games correctly in week five of the Journal-Eureka football contest, Cedar Rapids’ Bart Barner claimed the top $30 first-place prize.

Ames’ Loren Mortvedt earned the second-place $15 prize after edging Anamosa’s Scott Gienapp and Ken Westphal in the tie-breaker after all three had picked eight correct games out of the 10 total in the contest.

Mortvedt’s 45-point tie-breaker score pushed him to the top.

Anamosa and Benton Community combined to score 44 points last Friday night.
