I met Wayne Manternach in 2008 when he walked into the Jones County Secondary Roads office to keep an appointment with the county engineer. I was the office secretary at the time. Wayne was preparing to run for the first time for District 1 Supervisor. He had scheduled a meeting with the county engineer so he could become familiar with the Secondary Roads’ role in the County. Department responsibilities,

policies and procedures were reviewed, as well as the 5 Year Road Construction Plan in effect at the time. Doing this much homework made it apparent that Wayne Manternach, if elected, was going to take the role of county supervisor seriously.

In subsequent years as District 1 Supervisor, Wayne has shown himself to be very engaged, hardworking and dedicated. He is willing to listen to new ideas and work with constituents, as well as, county employees. Wayne is a very independent thinker, as his Board of Supervisors’ voting record shows, though all the time keeping the best interests of the county in mind.

In my opinion, Jones County is fortunate to have Wayne serving as chairman of the Board of Supervisors during the current COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak with all the nuances it brings to normal board proceedings. This good fortune will continue when you elect Wayne Manternach for another term as District 1 Supervisor.
