David L. Cavey


David L. Cavey, 85, of Monticello and formerly of Olin passed away Dec. 24, 2020 at the Monticello Nursing and Care Center.

A private family service will be held and burial with Military Honors will take place at the Olin Cemetery.

David was born in 1935 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport. He attended Toronto grade school and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1953. After high school he was enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany and was discharged in 1957. After his discharge he made a home with his sister Betty (Bob) Lambert and her family for eight years before moving to Olin and opening Cavey’s Café in 1966. David retired in 2006. During these years David owned the Hardware Store, Drug Store and built a car wash. For over 22 years he served as the Mayor of Olin. He also served as chairman of Board for Senior Housing in Olin. David entered the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in 2014.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sister and best friend Betty Lambert of Monticello and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Robert and Donald.

Memorials may be left in his honor to Betty Lambert 135 Crescent Court, Monticello, Iowa 52310.
