Amy Larkin and Michelle Clark, of Coralville, received the Best Costume Award dressed as a pot of gold and a large shamrock during the 5K festivities.

Despite cold temperatures and wind, about 135 participants braved the weather to run the St. Patrick’s Day Emerald Run 5K at Wapsipinicon State Park.

Anamosa Chamber of Commerce held its third St. Patrick’s Day theme, “Emerald Run 5K,” at Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa, March 14. Instead of an Irish gig, participants run at the start of the blow horn at the top of Lower Park Road.

Around 135 runners participated in the St. Patrick’s Day Emerald Run 5K, which was held in Wapsipinicon State Park. The bright colors and Irish green stood out against the dormant landscape.

Mitchell Kelly, 37, of North Liberty, was the overall men’s winner, finishing in 17 minutes, 42.94 seconds.

Avery Edwards, 10, of Grundy Center, topped the women’s field with a time of 19:02.10.

On the far right, Carla Eilers, owner of Zen House Yoga, led participants through warm-up stretches before the race, helping runners prepare for the course ahead.

Mackson and Lucas Loenard, both of Manchester, ran together near the finish line in the St. Patrick’s Day-themed 5K.

Dressed in a vibrant Irish-themed outfit with shades of green, Kim Barns, of Marion, ran the 5K, adding festive flair to the race.

Andrea Joyner, of Marion, donned bright green and orange Irish-themed attire, glimmering as she ran in the St. Patrick’s Day Emerald Run 5K.

Fifteen participants competed in the annual Emerald Crawl stein-holding contest at Tyler and Downing Eatery on March 14.

The Emerald Crawl was held March 14 at downtown Anamosa bars, with participants enjoying drinks, camaraderie and early St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
