Taps is played by the Springville American Legion Post #331 color guard before the run as Salute to the Fallen Foundation founder and President John Thompson, of Cedar Rapids, left, salutes. The American Legion post is the lead sponsor of the event.
Fifty-six runners start the 5th Annual Springville Salute to the Fallen 5K run, including Milez leading his owner Chris Nims, #31 of Robins, who finished in the same order at fourth and fifth.
Conner Sweet #36, 15, of Springville, finishes the 5K course first in 20 minutes and 26 seconds.
