Based on the initial numbers, the Springville school district’s enrollment numbers continue to rise.
According to initial numbers on the district’s certified enrollment, the district is up 1.3 weighted students, from 382.1 to 383.4. This means the district will receive an increase in funding for the next year.
The numbers showed the number of students living in the district that were going outside the district for schooling were down 5.7 students. While open enrollment out numbers were down, open enrollment in numbers were up, from 71 to 84 students.
All in all, the number of students being educated in the district is up 20 students from 371 to 391.
“Overall, very positive numbers. We continue to grow,” Hocking said.
Despite the positives, Hocking said the certified enrollment numbers did concern him a bit, just because of the difference in the certified enrollment number and the 20 students the district is up overall. While the numbers indicate that Springville is a place parents want their students to be educated, they weren’t in the actual district. Hocking attributed that to a need to get more housing to become available within the district’s boundaries.
The numbers will be made official Nov. 1. During that time, Hocking said he expected the weighted students to go up by one more.
