Due to the coronavirus, the annual Anamosa Veterans Day Assembly is going virtual.

Anamosa High School Graduate John R. Cheshire is going to record a message for the community. He graduated in the 1960s, flew fighter jets and taught at the TOPGUN school in California. The presentation will be pre-recorded, and a link will be made available on the school website and the Journal-Eureka website. The presentation can be watched at this link:

Members of the Anamosa Student Council had planned to offer a pick-up meal for veterans and significant others on Veterans Day at the performing arts building.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, the plan changed. However, treat bags will be available for veterans to pick up. These bags will be available for pickup in the Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa throughout Veterans Day. If you are a veteran, please do not hesitate to pick one up. If you know someone who is a veteran, please do not hesitate to tell them.
