A crazy cast of characters will take the stage Nov. 9 at Midland Middle School/High School as they put on their fall production of “Alice in Wonderland.”
Having a crack at this famous production has the casts looking forward to their opening night.
“It’s going to be crazy. The costumes are crazy,” Chiara Dusanek said, who’s taking on the role of Alice.
Lillian Strait, who’s taking on the role of the Queen of Hearts, said it’s the most excited she’s ever been for a production. With the role of the queen, Strait said she gets to yell and scream a lot, which is pretty in character for her.
“I already do it all the time. Now I get to do it for a purpose,” Strait said.
What stood out for Dusanek was the intelligence of Alice, despite only being 10 in the play, and her constant questioning of the world around her.
“She’s very curious. I see a lot of myself in her sometimes,” she said.
Mia Ruley plays the White Rabbit, a character with a lot of nervous energy, which has made it a fun character to get into.
With so many kooky characters on the stage, the interactions between the characters really shine through, according to the cast. The chemistry, Strait said, between all the different actors on the stage is what helps make the production work.
All three performers pointed to the courtroom scene toward the end of the production with all the characters on stage simultaneously for a courtroom scene is one of the highlights of the play. Dusanek said the character of Humpty Dumpty is a real scene stealer.
“It’s one of my favorite scenes to do because Humpty Dumpty is just so sarcastic,” Dusanek said.
The cast will take the stage at 7 p.m., Nov. 9, in the middle school/high school commons. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.
