Republicans carried Jones County in contested races across the board, according to unofficial results from election night Nov. 3.

In county races, John Schlarmann defeated incumbent Wayne Manternach with 62.5% of the vote for Jones County Board of Supervisors District 1, Jeff Swisher defeated Stuart Adams with nearly 75% of the vote for Jones County Board of Supervisors District 5 and Whitney Hein got 64% of the vote against Sarah Power to replace Janine Sulzner as Jones County auditor. Greg Graver (R) and Joe Oswald (D) won their races unopposed for sheriff and Jones County Board of Supervisors District 2, respectively.

At the state level, Jones County again went Republican in all three races. Steven Bradley was the choice in Iowa House District 58 over incumbent Andy McKean with 57.5% of the vote. Bradley unseated McKean with more than 53% of the vote across the district. Voters backed Dan Zumbach to retain his seat in the Iowa Senate with 62.6% of the vote. Zumbach retained his seat with 65% of the total vote in the race. Lee Hein kept his seat in Iowa House District 96 against Everett Chase with 65% of the vote in Jones County. Overall, Hein took 69.5% of the vote in that race.

At the federal level, it was the same story. Republican Donald Trump received 60% of the vote compared to 38% for Joe Biden. For the senate, Joni Ernst received 58% of Jones County’s vote against challenger Theresa Greenfield. Challenger Ashley Hinson received about 60% of the vote in Jones County to attempt to unseat Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer. With all 20 counties reporting, Hinson appears to have defeated Finkenauer with 51% of the vote.

Both Trump and Ernst lead their respective races statewide with counties left to report.

Vote totals will not be made official until the canvass of results.
